Originally I was going to make this one post but I don't want to bombard you with so much at once. So I've decided to stretch it out over a few different posts.
In my previous post I mentioned about doing something different for Christmas. What we did was a family trip to Disney World in Orlando, Florida. We also went to Universal Studios and got to go to Harry Potter world! :D
It was both @ericrumor and my first time going. Since we were in Orlando I really wanted to go to the Kennedy Space Center, in other words NASA!
Don't mind our squintiness, it was crazy sunny. Lol
I had a lot of fun and the tour we did was very interesting. We got to see some of the launching pads, as well as some spacex areas. Seeing the Atlantis shuttle was insane. It's crazy to see how big it actually is.
The first flight the Atlantis space shuttle took was in 1985 and in 2011 was it's last. It had done 33 missions totalling just over 306 days.
Here we've got the vehicle assembly building. It sits 525 feet tall! That's just over 48 stories. In the picture and seeing it in person did not seem that big. But if you look at the picture, you'll see a little mouse door looking thing. Right in the between the grey areas, is one of the doors that the workers use to enter! I was baffled by this.
I would definitely like to come back to NASA, perhaps when they will do some sort of launch.
I hope you enjoyed this post, I'll leave you with a couple more pictures and a fun fact!
