Click - Family Comes First
I love this movie! I've seen Click several times and each time I end up getting emotional and thinking about life. Actor Adam Sandler is famous for always playing the same character in comedy films. However, in Click the actor surprises with an intelligent script, and in this case we have a movie that I wouldn't classify as a comedy, because it's a movie that has an incredible message.
Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) is married to Donna (Kate Beckinsale) and they have two children, Bejamin and Samantha. But Michael thinks he has an unlucky life, because his neighbor has everything money can buy and their son loves to show off, while Michael works like a convict for his boss who doesn't appreciate him.
Right from the start, Michael makes the wrong choices, because he puts his family on the back burner and devotes himself almost exclusively to his work. I remember that he never finished the tree house he had promised his son. He stopped spending time with his children or his wife to live for work. And the worst thing is that he didn't do all this out of selfishness, he just wanted to give his family a better life. How many of us forget to live the best moments of our lives in order to chase money. Working and working to realize that in the end what matters are the moments with the people we love.
In the movie, it all starts because Michael always misplaced the remote control he was supposed to use to turn on the TV, but ended up opening the garage door instead. So, in a stressful moment, he decides to buy a universal remote control, which his neighbor had and why couldn't he have it too? Arriving at the store, a mysterious guy, Morty, shows him a new remote control that hasn't been released on the market yet and that Michael deserves to have it. So Morty gives him a remote control, with no return, that can control everything in his universe. At first Michael is suspicious, but in the end he accepts because all he wants is to solve his problem.
I'll say it again, I really like this movie because it has a bit of everything! At the beginning, when Michael is discovering how the remote control works, we have a funny comedy. When he mutes his dog when it's barking or when he speeds up the time when the dog is pooping so he doesn't have to wait, when he pauses his wife who is in the middle of a fight. At first it all seems magical, a control that can speed up annoying situations in our lives, even I wanted one of these. At first, he may even skip dinner with the family in order to work, for example, but he stops living that moment with the family in order to be on "autopilot". He can skip those little moments in his life that he doesn't want to deal with. In the movie, he skips them: The massage for his wife, the traffic, the cold, but I ask who wouldn't do many of these things?
But if control were real, what would you do? In reality, control does exist and it's the choices we make in our lives that direct our lives. Of course, there are certain moments or phases in life when we need to give up, for example, being with family or friends in order to pursue our dreams, but everything should be done in moderation. Living life only for work is not good.
In the movie, Michael begins to abuse the remote control in order to advance his life for the promotion that his boss promised him would take a few months, but it took him a year to get it. And without knowing it, he lived his life on autopilot for a whole year. He missed out on many moments with his family for the sake of work. He began to abuse the remote control so much that everything was becoming automatic, right down to the way the remote control worked, and the first argument with Donna made the remote control accelerate to the next moment.
So it's clear how harmful control can be. He missed a whole phase with the children, he didn't see them grow up. His daughter was now a young woman with longer hair, they no longer watched cartoons but police series, and the tree house still hadn't been finished. In another opportunity for promotion in the company, his boss says that Michael will one day be CEO, so because of his desire, the control understands that it is necessary to jump until the other promotion, so another 10 years go by.
When Michael realizes that the remote control is automatic, he anticipates all the unfortunate moments and along with them the little precise moments. That's when the comedy turns into melancholy, to the point of no return. The tree house is still there unfinished, even after 10 years, which shows that he only cared about his work and forgot about his family. As a result, his marriage to Donna failed and his children are now grown up. At this point, Michael has regrets and can do nothing more.
In the movie, Michael travels to his son's wedding, which was the happy moment he wanted to be at. Obese and suffering from health problems, Michael has a heart attack, and the automatic control system puts him through his paces because of the heart attack. He ends up in hospital and wakes up to his son, who works for his architecture firm, telling him that he's not going on honeymoon to work on a project. Michael tries to get out of bed and run to his son so that he doesn't make the same mistake as him, saying that "family is more important". Fortunately, Morty who was the angel of death gave Michael another chance to start his life over the day he gained control.
It was Michael's schools that got him there. But fortunately he had a second chance to put right everything he was doing wrong. In real life, the universal remote control is a metaphor, the materialization of attitudes we already have on a daily basis. How many times do we put ourselves on autopilot and spend days like this? How many times do we put life off until later? Until I can afford it, until I've built a house, until I've bought a car? How many times do we get ahead of ourselves and jump straight to those moments and forget to live what's happening now?
What was going on in my life when I watched Click for the first time?
At that time, my life was all about working and studying. I would leave the house at 6am and return at midnight, every day in this routine, except for the weekends, when I would study my late course subjects. I spent all day at work and in the afternoon when I left I went straight to my course, which was in another city.
At a certain point in my life, I realized that I had no social life. And I kept thinking about the meaning of life, working and studying, is it really worth it? I felt like I was losing part of my life. It was quite depressing and there were times when I cried. Watching the movie Click, at the time I saw myself being Michael and the harsh message that the movie gives at the end came back to me like a punch in the gut.
But it was all just a phase, it wasn't me who had chosen that for myself. It was the environmental conditions I was exposed to. Fortunately, that was just a phase, as my work started to become more flexible and so did my course, which gave me the opportunity to go out at the weekend and enjoy life with the people I love.

Click - Family Comes First
No come莽o tudo parece m谩gico um controle que pode adiantar situa莽玫es chatas da nossa vida, at茅 eu queria um desse.
Nessa 茅poca minha vida se resumia a somente trabalhar e estudar.
E sim foram as condi莽玫es ambientes as quais eu estava exposto.
