Hello, friends of this community. I’ve been a bit away from this platform recently, but I’ve now decided to start posting here again. As I’ve been away for a while, I’ll introduce myself again. My name is Eileen, I’m 35 years old, I’m Cuban and I currently live in Havana. I work as a television producer and teach at the National School of Arts. I’m also the mum of a three-year-old boy.
Yesterday was basically a day spent stocking up on food and cleaning supplies for the whole week – and sometimes a little more than a week’s worth – for my home. I started very early by taking my son to nursery, and from there I went to the farmers’ market to buy fruit and vegetables, as my son loves plantains, guavas and cucumbers – and of course, those were all on my shopping list.
I went back home to put the shopping away and, whilst the power was on, I took the opportunity to do some washing. For those who don’t know, we’re currently going through quite a severe energy crisis in Cuba, which means we sometimes only have electricity for a few hours a day; so as soon as the power comes on, you have to get on with any household chores that require electricity.
I went out again a little later and headed to another shop in search of better prices so I could buy my son his breakfast cereals – some of the brands he likes – as well as cheese, yoghurt, washing powder and other bits and bobs we needed at home.
As well as doing the shopping I needed to do, I joined a gym which is about six streets away from home, as I haven’t been doing any exercise recently; as a result, not only have I put on weight during this time, but I haven’t been feeling physically well either, even though I don’t lead a sedentary lifestyle.
After lunch and finishing a few odd jobs, I went to pick up my son from nursery, and together with one of his friends and his mum, we went to a park near our house where we played until around 7 pm.
After giving my son a bath, feeding him and putting him to bed, I carried on tidying up a few things that had been left out of place, as I hadn’t had time to do so for most of the day whilst I was out and about.
I’d like to thank you all for taking a few minutes to read this post. A big hug to you all.
All the photos used in this post were taken with my Redmi 14 C mobile phone.
