The shadow behind us,
the shadow we don’t see,
the shadow of that horrible being we hide,
of that being we choose not to see,
of that being we often deny.
That being who is us,
but a “self” unrecognizable to ourselves.
The skirt that hides the shadow,
the skirt that covers us,
the skirt that dresses us up as people,
the skirt we wear without pain,
the skirt we flaunt to appear presentable, shadowless,
the skirt that masks us,
the skirt that suffocates us.
I hate the skirt, filled with pure shadow.
I don’t want to be the skirt anymore,
I don’t want to be the shadow anymore.
I am a skirt full of shadows.
