In my country ¨caimanera¨ is the name given to popular sports games (soccer, baseball, etc) that do not take place in complexes prepared for them. Ball games that are born in streets, alleys, patios, etc. Hence the name I have given to this publication ¨The alligators/Los Caimanes¨.
En mi país ¨caimanera¨ es el nombre que se le da a los juegos de deporte popular (fútbol, béisbol, etc) que no se desarrollan en complejos preparados para ello. Juegos de pelota que nacen en calles, callejones, patios, etc. De allí el nombre que le he puesto a esta publicación ¨Los caimanes¨.
One of the jobs I enjoyed the most, at the time, was as a photographer for a municipality in my city. In that job I had to cover the management of the sports area of what was then the governor's office.
Uno de los trabajos que más disfruté, en su momento, fue de fotógrafo de un municipio de mi ciudad. En dicho trabajo yo tendría que hacer cobertura de la gestión en el área de deporte de la que entonces era la gobernación.
It was a job where I was able to learn a lot about street photography and the efficiency in this type of media. Three times a week I would get to know new places in areas of the city that would have been almost impossible for me to reach on my own. Whenever I could and saw the opportunity, I couldn't pass up looking for photographs for myself that I genuinely liked and made me happy, these are some of them.
It was a job that I really enjoyed and am very grateful to have had the experience.
Fue un trabajo donde pude aprender muchísimo de la fotografía de calle y la eficiencia en tal tipo de medios. 3 veces por semana conocería sitios nuevos en áreas de la ciudad que por cuenta propia me habría sido casi imposible llegar. Siempre que podía y veía la oportunidad, no podía pasar por alto buscar fotografías para mi, que genuinamente me gustaran e hiciesen feliz, estas son algunas de ellas.
Fue un trabajo que realmente disfruté y del cual estoy muy agradecido por haber vivido la experiencia.
Had it not been for the pay I received for it (which was meager) and the little creative freedom I was allowed, I might still be there. The streets and alleys I visited, the houses built in no clear order, the little things I could see as an observer of these children were simply magical.
De no ser por la paga que recibía por ello (que era escasa) y la poca libertad creativa que me permitían, tal vez seguiría allí. Las calles y callejones que visitaba, las casas construidas sin orden claro, las pequeñas cosas que podía ver como observador de estos niños eran sencillamente mágicas.
