Today, we are starting to share our food adventure to our EggInc blogs. We are really fond of food in general and not just sweet and delicacies. And we would like to start making food reviews through the Tasteem platform.
One of the local delights in Singapore is a Hor Fun dish, it’s a Chinese cuisine that is categorized as Zi Char dish. There are a lot of variations for this dish and it range from Seafood to a red meat like beef.
What I’m having is the Beef Horfun! I usually order the seafood hor fun dish but this time, I would like to have different flavor to it.
The big challenge for this dish is to have a good balance of charred flavour of the noodles and the required tenderness of the beef. Since, beef has a tendency to become tough when overcooked, the cook must be careful in making this dish since it requires an intense heat to prepare.
What I had for this dinner is a perfect balance of flavour and a perfectly tender beef. The gravy is just oozing with robust flavour of the beef and it has a perfect consistency as well.
I’m quite delighted with the generous serving which I honestly thought that this dish is good for 2 persons. I couldn’t finish the meal alone.
One way to counter the heaviness of the dish is a few bite-size pieces of pickled green chilli. The acidity of the pickles really create a good balance in the flavour of the beef. Without the chilli, I could get bored on the dish. I would say that the green chilli helps to bring out the depth of the Beef hor fun.
Below are a few more photos of the places.
Cheers!
