Hello, Hive friends!
Today I’m sharing two photographs of the bougainvillea in my rooftop garden. I bought this plant in December 2025, and these pictures show its flowering during the rainy season.
The plant usually flowers, so this isn’t a rare flowering event. Still, I wanted to capture the bright pink clusters covering its branches. In the wider photograph, you can see how they spread around the support, with green leaves between them.
I grow it in a container on the rooftop, alongside my other plants. The photograph includes the grow bags, pots and concrete floor around it—a view of the garden as it actually looks.
For feeding, I use only vermicompost. That is my current routine for this plant, rather than a recommendation that everyone needs to follow. Different gardens and growing conditions can give different results.
In the second photograph, I held a branch closer to the camera. This gives a better view of the overlapping pink clusters. Some appear almost red, while others are a brighter pink, and the green leaves make the colours stand out even more.
Looking at the two pictures together, I prefer the close-up for the detail, but the wider one shows more of the plant and its place in my rooftop garden.
Since I bought it in December, this flowering has become part of my experience of growing it. I hope to share more photographs over time so I can also keep a record of how it develops.
Do you grow bougainvillea in a pot or directly in the ground? How does yours flower during the rainy season?
Both photographs are my own, taken in my rooftop garden.
