"Forgiveness is an act of will, and the will can function regardless of the temperature of the heart." Corrie ten Boom (1892 - 1983)
During World War II, Corrie ten Boom and her family offered their home as a shelter to Jews fleeing the Nazis, hiding refugees behind a false wall in ten Boom's bedroom until they could be moved to freedom. She ultimately helped save lives of approximately 800 people. Sadly, ten Boom and her family were betrayed and arrested by the Nazis. A clerical error aided in ten Boom's release one week before all the women her age were put to death.
Despite her suffering, Corrie ten Boom spent the rest of her life travelling the world as a motivational speaker, advocating the power of reconciliation. Firm in her belief that "forgiveness is the key which unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hatred," she chose to pardon those who harmed her and encouraged others to do the same.
Practice forgiving others.
Have you ever done something to hurt someone's feeling and then wished you could take it back? Did this person forgive you? If not, how would it make you feel to be forgiven?
