Hola, comunidad de Hive desde hace un buen rato que no comparto nada por esta zona de juegos y hoy quiero ponerme, otra vez, nostálgico pero con un toque de realidad. Hace un tiempo descargué este juego en plena época de fama por supuesto que fui uno de los que me sumé a la fiebre de las descargas y a sus carreras. En su momento se habló muchísimo y muy bien de él, así que la expectativa estaba por las nubes y la verdad, lo que recuerdo, no me decepcionó.
Hi, Hive community it’s been quite a while since I’ve shared anything in this gaming section, and today I want to get nostalgic again, but with a touch of reality. A while back, I downloaded this game right when it was at the height of its popularity of course, I was one of those who jumped on the download bandwagon and got into the races. At the time, there was a lot of buzz about it, and it got rave reviews, so expectations were sky-high. And honestly, as far as I remember, it didn’t disappoint me.
Ahora después de un buen tiempo sin tocarlo, hoy decidí revivir viejas épocas, instalarlo de nuevo y ver cómo le han ido con las actualizaciones del juego pero debo de confesar que si hablamos primero de mi teléfono, el mismo ya ha pagado su factura y desde hace tiempo debe ser reemplazado pero por motivos mayores no está en mis prioridades. Lo primero que pude notar y siendo totalmente honesto es que la optimización en mi teléfono actual me jugó algunas malas pasadas y se congelaba en algunas ocasiones tal como lo podrán notar en el gameplay. lamentablemente esos frozzen en un juego de carreras donde cada segundo cuenta pueden llegar a ser un poco frustrantes.
Now, after quite a while without touching it, I decided today to relive the good old days, reinstall it, and see how the game updates have gone. But I have to admit that, speaking first of my phone, it’s already served its purpose and has needed to be replaced for quite some time but for more pressing reasons, that’s not a priority for me right now. The first thing I noticed and I’m being completely honest here is that the optimization on my current phone played some tricks on me, and it would freeze up occasionally, as you’ll see in the gameplay footage. Unfortunately, those freezes in a racing game where every second counts can get a little frustrating.
Otro punto que me no me agradó mucho es que sin duda prefiero mil veces tener botones físicos o sea, la jugabilidad táctil de este título aunque está pensada para jugarse con una sola mano, no se siente tan agradable o por lo menos no para mí además que no es tan preciso como la de una consola tradicional. El control de los derrapes y el uso de objetos requiere una curva de adaptación que a nivel visual y de fluidez de movimiento sinceramente no me termina de convencer.
Another thing I didn't really like is that I definitely prefer physical buttons a thousand times over I mean, the touch controls in this game, even though they're designed for one handed play, don't feel that great, at least not to me, and they aren't as precise as those on a traditional console. Controlling drifts and using items requires a learning curve, and in terms of visuals and fluidity of movement, I honestly aren’t entirely convinced.
Pero no todo es crítica pues si apartamos esos detalles técnicos la verdad es que el juego sigue siendo sumamente divertido. La esencia de Mario Kart está ahí, el caos de los caparazones, la competencia y la adrenalina de rebasar en la última curva. Tiene unos gráficos bastante aceptables para ser un juego móvil que ya lleva su tiempo en el mercado pero de seguro ha logrado mantenerse bastante bien en el mercado pues no me costaba nada conseguir competidores en la red del juego. De verdad que hay que destacar más allá de criticar, los personajes, las pistas inspiradas en ciudades reales y el colorido clásico de Nintendo siguen entrando muy bien por los ojos así que de verdad aun a pesar de la jugabilidad incomodad, es un juego que se deja llevar muy bien.
But it’s not all criticism if we set those technical details aside, the truth is that the game is still a lot of fun. The essence of Mario Kart is still there the chaos of the shells, the competition, and the adrenaline rush of passing someone on the last turn. The graphics are pretty decent for a mobile game that’s been on the market for a while, and it’s clearly managed to hold its own quite well, since I had no trouble finding opponents online. Honestly, beyond the criticism, the characters, the tracks inspired by real cities, and Nintendo’s classic color palette are still a real treat for the eyes, so even with the awkward gameplay, it’s a game that’s a lot of fun to play.
