The whales can learn something from Franklin D. Roosevelt
Hello Steemians,
although I did not have an account yet, I've been following the conflict between @berniesanders and
@haejin over the past couple of weeks, and I came to the conclusion that some whales have not understood yet what is good for them.
Of course, some investors are just there for the quick buck, but a longer-term strategy would be, to ensure that the platform becomes attractive to more people and competes with Facebook and Twitter. With more people profiting from the steem-blockchain, the whales will also benefit as the platform grows and the value of their shares increases. If the fish earn more, they will bring their friends and those will support the whales in projects to develop the blockchain (You can call it Steemism/Fordism).
What does all this have to do with Theodore Roosevelt?
After the Black Friday, 1929, there were two distinct camps in the ruling class as to how to deal with the increasing impoverishment of the population. The Puritan upper class followed the dogma of self-responsibility, rather seeing people hungry and dying on the streets than to give away anything of their fortune. Only individuals like Roosevelt realized that in the long term this dogma would lead to a US downfall. He understood that a redistribution of wealth would ensure his personal prosperity as well as that of his class (Roosevelt was damn rich).
For the simple-minded people of his class, he was a traitor because through his high taxation and his effort to strengthening the unions he prevented them from making as much money as they made before the New Deal. But if they had thought ahead, they would have understood that the subclass would not put up with everything forever (I recommend GOT). Through his policy, he secured long-term prosperity of the upper class and at the same time, the New Deal generated the most amazing increase in wealth in US history.
So what can we learn from it?
Anyone who creates seven posts each day, only votes for himself and takes $2000 out of the blockchain each day will not contribute for the long run.
No, you will see how small blogs with good content will disappear, because they recognize that a technical analysis with a couple of pictures or "5 movie you need to watch when the sun is shining" get rewarded disproportionately.
The consequence will be that we have to watch as Steem slowly disappears into irrelevance.
Have a nice day
