Alright, let's start with the good news: Jack is doing good!
I've just received a call from the doctor yesterday, and the analysis from the labs just came back, it was a benign tumor, and he is now completely out of danger.
Charlie understands what we're doing here...
We of course will still have to make sure his weight stay on point, and having a regular check up, but for now he seems to gain back some vitality, he also feels less "boney" that he did 2 weeks ago, so this is reassuring.
I've decided to take them for a walk, now that his scar has healed, and that we took the stitches out.
After removing the spleen, the doctor ensured us that he will very quickly recover, and he really did. His scar is also healing perfectly, I am not surprised as Jack always had this nonchalant way to succeed at things, a surgery is of course nothing for him.
Both of the dogs were really eating well recently, with massive amount of soft food, rice and meat cooked in duck fat, treats, more beef jerky than necessary, and the occasional bone broth, even roasted veggies!
It's funny how his buddy Charlie (our other dog) has been acting very supportive toward him, even trying to lick his wound, and staying around him, engage him to play.
Now, they both soon will see the snow for the first time, I also wanted to take a trip to the beach before the next lock-down.
I can't help but thinking that he was meant to have his surgery here in France, so I am happy everything unfolded like it did. I know people keep on repeating that he is getting old, but he had a healthy life, not many injuries or hurdles, so he should be able to live a long(er) life, now without a spleen.
Jack found a trail!!
I was going to this new location to shoot something tomorrow morning, we have a clear sky so I wanted to try to see the angle for the shot, and make sure that there isn't any hunters.
Today, for the first time this week, we are having a little bit of sun, so I recorded the latest song request early this morning, and as aforementioned took the dog for a long walk.
I was advised to at least wait for 14 days before even considering let him be outside for too long, now he is even allowed to get wet, and swim, so rest assured they took advantage of it!
Just feeling the warmth of the sun, seeing his body language completely change recently was touching, he is a very expressive dog, that talks, so it was good to have full on conversation with him again. 😁
I've also promised him, that I will try to keep the shouting to the bare minimum, and stop being an asshole (if it's even possible), as my wife says, "every time you shout or get angry, you're losing a shard of your soul".
I really like this metaphor, maybe we are losing a bit of our essence, every time we expel that anger out there?
What are YOU working on?
On the way back, we saw a flock of bird dancing like smoke in the clouds, it was a nice reminder of the power of nature, thanks to all the people that wished Jack to feel better, it worked!
