On the last day of March, I was laid off. My employer let me, and the other 15 staff members know several weeks ahead of time, which was unexpected. Id been working out of town, 3 hours away, Monday through Thursday surveying. 100% of the work was outside. Winters in the north east US, not so nice. Wet, snow, frigid, sleet, slush and maybe a dash of sun here and there. Luckily, Id been dabbling in crypto. Id made several small investments, not expecting much, which is why I never invested into bitcoin when it was $5-6. To my surprise, within a few short weeks, my initial investment into ETH had quadrupled. Ever since, between savings, crypto profits and now a steady trickle on Steemit, starting to wonder, do I really need to go back to work?
I think for most of us, its ingrained into us growing up, get a degree, get a job, work till you're 72, then die. The older I get, the more I realize, that going to school was not only a waste of money, but a waste of 4 years of my life learning a bunch of worthless crap that Ive never really applied in the real world anyways. Aside from learning how to stretch a budget maybe.
Posting stuff on Steemit, throwing a few trades around on GDAX, sleeping till noon, doing whatever I want, that's a pretty swell routine. Working 60 hours a week, getting up at 4am, never getting ahead no matter what, what is the point? Health benefits? A tax return?
