Yes I was thinking the same thing, except when I went to find out what they stole nothing came up. There was no double spend and one of the sources I read said that you have to reorganize at least 11 blocks to double-spend anyway (which I did not confirm with another source).

So it would seem as though their goal was actually just to disrupt the chain, which is going to be much harder to prosecute unless Monero sues them in civil court... which seems unlikely that one decentralized community would sue another in a centralized nationalized court system.
