¡Hola! Es la primera vez que publico en esta comunidad sobre mascotas. Hace unos días mis papás nos dieron la noticia de que habían adoptado a un cachorro. No se si a ustedes les pasa lo mismo, pero cuando pasa algo así, lo primero que pienso es "haré un post en HIVE sobre esto." Bueno aquí está, y les contaré toda la historia.

Para entender el buen impacto que ha creado Dilo en nuestra vida tengo que ponerlos un poco en contexto. Desde que nací siempre ha habido al menos dos perros en casa de mis padres, en ocasiones hemos tenido más de cuatro. Pero por más de un año y medio sólo ha habido un perro, se llama Chumlee, se quedó solito porque su papá que se llamaba Fargo un día amaneció sin vida, se murió de viejito y creemos que sin dolor.

Hi! This is my first time posting in this community about pets. A few days ago, my parents gave us the news that they had adopted a puppy. I don't know if it's the same for you guys, but when something like this happens, the first thing I think is, "I'll make a post on HIVE about it." Well, here it is, and I'll tell you the whole story.

To understand the excellent impact Dilo has created in our lives, I have to give you a little bit of context. Since I was born, there have always been at least two dogs in my parents' house. On occasion, we've had more than four. But for more than a year and a half, there has only been one dog, his name is Chumlee, he was left alone because his dad, who was named Fargo one day, dawned lifelessly, he died of old age, and we believe that without pain.

Mi papá ya estaba pensando en un reemplazo para Fargo, pero se atravezaron varias situaciones y no encontraba al "perro ideal". Originalmente quería otro Doberman, yo le dije que adoptara a un perro aunque no fuera de raza, pero el es un poco necio (al igual que yo) y se empeño en que quería un perro que sí fuera de raza. Lo entendí y fuimos un par de veces a ver lugares donde venden perros, vio algunos pero no le gustaron y estaban muy caros.

My dad was already thinking about a replacement for Fargo, but several situations came up, and he couldn't find the "ideal dog". Originally he wanted another Doberman, I told him to adopt a dog even if it wasn't purebred, but he is a bit of a fool (as am I) and was adamant that he wanted a dog that was a thoroughbred. I understood him, and we went a couple of times to see places where they sell dogs. He saw some, but he didn't like them, and they were too expensive.

Tenemos una amiga que es veterinaria y ella tiene unos perros Boxers muy bonitos. Los cría y los vende, pero son perros que son muy finos con pedigree y esas cosas, así que los vende demasiado caros. Pero ella tiene unos clientes o amigos que también tienen boxers que no son tan finos. Les preguntó y nos vendieron a Dilo a un precio razonable.

We have a friend who is a veterinarian, and she has adorable Boxers. She breeds them and sells them, but these are very purebred with pedigree and stuff, so she sells them way too expensive. But she has some clients or friends who also have Boxers that are not so pure. She asked them, and they sold Dilo to us at a reasonable price.

Y a mi papá ya le llamaba la atención tener un boxer porque son buenos guardianes, tienen el pelo corto y a pesar de que tienen el hocico aplastado están bonitos. También quería un perro para que el Chumlee lo entrene y le enseñe como cuidar la casa y también como interactuar de manera adecuada con los inquilinos que nos visitan semanalmente por medio de nuestro Airbnb.

And my dad was already interested in having a boxer because they are good watchdogs, they have short hair, and even though they have a flattened muzzle, they are cute. He also wanted a dog for Chumlee to train and teach it how to take care of the house and interact appropriately with the guests who visit us weekly through our Airbnb.

El perro es de mis papás. Gris y yo ya no vivimos con ellos, los visitamos cada fin de semana ya que estamos bastante cerca, pero ellos son los dueños. Y bueno, mi papá tiene un creatividad bastante peculiar para ponerle nombre a los animales.

The dog belongs to my parents. Gris and I don't live with them anymore, we visit every weekend since we're close enough, but they own it. And well, my dad has rather peculiar creativity for naming animals.

Hemos tenido de todo tipo y ha tenido la oportunidad de nombrar desde vacas, toros, cerdos, gallinas, conejos, caballos y sobre todo perros.

We have had all kinds, and he has had the opportunity to name everything from cows, bulls, pigs, chickens, rabbits, horses, and most of all, dogs.

Mi papá me explicó que el nombre de Dilo fue inspirado por Dámaso Pérez Prado un famoso músico, compositor y arreglista cubano conocido como el "Rey del Mambo" quien falleció hace más de 30 años. "¡Dilo!" era un grito gutural que Pérez Prado usaba para darle entrada a los instrumentos. Les comparto un video con la explicación que encontré en YouTube.

My dad explained to me that the name Dilo was inspired by Damaso Pérez Prado, a famous Cuban musician, composer, and arranger known as the "Mambo King" who passed away over 30 years ago. "Dilo!" was a guttural shout that Perez Prado used to cue the instruments. Here is a video with the explanation I found on YouTube.
