If Good deeds are not enough, so what is then? There are more to just good deeds, so let me quickly share with you what I actually meant by that title.
There was a man in the Bible called Cornelius who was a very godly man. He was also a devout man who feared God, and not just him but all his household as well and he also gave alms to the people of the city where he dwelled. Could there be a better description for a human being in such a world in which we leave in? I doubt that but this man was all that was accorded to him.
He was a benevolent and cheerful giver, he also prays alot because he was God-fearing and interestingly he also saw visions. All these were the good deeds of this man but yet, He wasn't SAVED(BORN AGAIN)!
You could read up all the man's story in the book of (Acts 10:1-6) so you can see all I just mentioned. So despite all the good deeds from this man, he could have still gone to he'll if he had died and many would have wondered, but he was a just man who was God-fearing, they would not understand that he was not saved. God had to tell him what to do so that he could be saved and thank God he listened and did what was instructed. After doing that, he became saved.
And now send men to Joppa, and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter: He lodgeth with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side: he shall tell thee what thou oughtest to do.

Another similar example was when Jesus met Nicodemus and spoke to him, he said;
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
John 3:7 KJV

Jesus was very clear and specific when he told him that "You must be BORN AGAIN"! Why didn't Jesus use the term, you must be God-fearing because he (Jesus) knows that being god-fearing won't get the job done. You must be born again as that's the only way you can come into the kingdom of light.
More often than not, we meet such folks in real life with good reputation and lifestyle, praised by others for the good deeds they usually do but that doesn't guarantee their salvation. It's not about what you have done, rather, it's about what Jesus Christ did for you on the cross which when you accept it with all your heart, you become saved instantly.
