How do I describe you in words? Maybe a story would do.
There is a picture of me and you, I was a year and a few months and I was standing on my mom's lap. You smiled and pointed at the camera, I had my eyes fixed where she was pointing at.
Apparently we traveled to another country in that picture, Cotonou (that's if you consider Cotonou another country). We went to see family over there. I'm a big lipped, soon to be bald headed, tiny eyed man, so it's not hard for me to understand that my older cousin who was a kid at the time said “Aunty, this your child is not fine.”
But you have always been an optimist. You use to say my bald baby hair was a sign I would become a professor. You kept on writing this story in my mind even when I was failing in primary school. I would walk around with my low average passed you colleagues who were my teachers at school and they'd snort "professor".
Today I'm still shooting air balls and I still have my number one fan behind me, cheering me on. You still smiles and points but not at a camera. I'm still am a baby trying to see where the camera is, so sometimes I'll look away and other times its a really really good picture.
Thank you ma'am for your unconditional love and support. I love you now and always.
