Last tuesday, August 23, was a special day to the most loving and kindest person I know. She is my mother and my first greatest friend. She is my pillar of support. And I do everything for her. I have been able to accomplish everything I have now because of her encouragement and advice. She is the light of our family and no one can take her place in our hearts.
In this new blog of mine, I will take you to our humble home. I will show you how we prepared the birthday celebration of my mother. I hope I get the chance to inspire you all that a simple celebration is enough as long as we are with our loved ones.
One of the reasons why I took a three days leave is because of my mother’s birthday. Despite how busy my work is, I always make sure to be present on my mother’s birthday. My mother is my main priority over all other things. I will never be in my position now without her. My mother deserves a happy celebration with our loved ones.
We were lucky because we have generous and supportive relatives who are willing to help in preparing all the food for my mother’s birthday celebration. We are a family of good cook. Every celebration in our family we always do the cooking. Each one of us has a specialty dish, like my mom for “Pancit” or my aunt for “Pork Humba”. It was always fun to prepare all the foods with the people closest to your heart. It’s also an opportunity to bond with my relatives and share our experiences and updates. Now that we’ve grown, we take different paths that lead us to be separated to one another. It feels good that we are reunited once more foy my mother’s special day.
These are some of the meals we provided for the guests. My mum specifically requested these because they are her favorites. My aunt prepared pork humba for us. My mum made Pancit Bam-i. Isda Relyenong, made by my other aunt. Additionally, my cousins prepared and cooked spaghetti, marinated fish, chop suey, and pork ribs. These meals were prepared with love.
We also have,of course, cake to complete my mother's birthday celebration. And One bucket of ice cream for the kids.
These are our first batch of guests. They are my relatives who come from the other barangay. It was also good to see them again and have them join us in celebrating my mother's birthday. Just to let you know, everyone in this room has been vaccinated, and most of us have received our booster shots as well. Simply put, I am proud of my family because we all follow the government and act responsibly.
I'd like to introduce to you my mother's high school classmates. They are always present at my mom's birthday celebrations ever since. They are also my mother's besties. I got inspired by the friendship they have. Throughout the years, their friendship remains and they always have each other's back. I have high respect for each one of them. And I adore them for giving my mother genuine love and care from them.
My mother's response after receiving her gift moved me. Her joy at receiving a gift on her birthday was truly priceless to watch. Our family friend and also a neighbor simultaneously gave us this present. She got a foot spa device. She deserves it because she puts so much effort into the family and as a mother. Every time she feels like treating herself and taking a break, this foot spa equipment will make her feel comfortable.
We had a wonderful day and are quite thankful that we could give our mum a very joyful and relaxed birthday party. Without the help of our other family, we won't be able to accomplish it. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful relatives. I can tell that my mother was quite delighted, and she obviously appreciated seeing her high school friends again, who are always at her birthday festivities. Above all, we are thankful to our Almighty God for giving my mother 51 years to live. To more cakes to slice and candles to blow for my mother.
