Depending upon your age and degree to which you follow new trends, Pokemon Go may seem like the most innovative thing out there, besides Steem, of course. There are those that are resistant to change for various reasons mocking those that need an app to finally get out of their mother's basement. The memes knocking this game are going to be endless and help drive it's popularity via screenshots of the augmented reality. Those who are anti-pokemon probably know that Alaska is in fact, not an island and that Texas while very large is merely half the size of Alaska, but that is beside the point.
This app bridges two worlds in a sense as involves social interaction (ya that's what that is right?), advertising, personal safety (not just the tripping hazard kind), and of course raw entertainment.
Revenue Generator:
Look at Facebook and it's adds, they are targeted sure, but ask yourself a question: how often do you knowingly click on these adds? I would expect many to emulate (copy) Nintendo in short order. The marketing innovation and potential here is massive. You may have heard that even pedicabs are luring people to them via this game. Surely, this concept of luring is likely to go awry (much more so than already has occurred). I can imagine the lures will be set up via Craigslist for services that are shady may have already started appearing as well.
Mobile Mishaps:
When I was growing up, a bruise or busted knee came from trying to skate on a hand-truck or doing a wheelie on my bike. These days, youngsters are more likely to injure themselves simply by not paying attention to reality (I mean the real and physical world). Personally, I'd be ashamed if I wrecked my vehicle or fell down a flight of stairs b/c I was using my damn mobile phone. We've all seen videos of people falling into rivers or missing a step because they were immersed in their handset, now Nintendo should help these users avoid obstacles using a new strap on LIDAR sensor (not yet invented for your phone).
Multitasking epoch:
You've probably used Waze and noticed that when you try to enter an address while moving at a certain speed the app tries to stop you and force you to verify that the passenger is the one doing the data input. Somehow, I doubt Pokemon Go comes with some gps-speed limiter as I'm sure the majority of operators will be sitting in the back seat. Would be interesting to set your Tesla on auto-pilot and have it seek out Pokemon while you watch a DVD.
Probably best to live and let live, it's an app that so far it's a net positive for society (and certainly die hard stockholders of Nintendo). Only time will tell how long this app will be a trendsetter - what do you think?
