Double Down is back!
I never got to try it the last time, so as soon as I heard that it was available again I made a bee line towards the the nearest KFC and got myself a serving.
For the uninitiated, the Double Down is a burger that instead of a 2 buns on the top and bottom, they are replaced with 2 deep friend chicken fillet. And instead of a patty in the middle, it is replaced with a bacon-like chicken strip.
I ordered just the "burger" ala carte without the sides, which is still quite pricey at RM12.90 (approx. $4.20 USD).
Naturally, the actual product looks less appetizing that in the marketing pictures.
My take on it? while the "buns" fillet is reasonably juicy, the whole thing feels dry and too savory. For that price, I prefer McDonald's Spicy Chicken McDeluxe. What can I say, you'd think that KFC would be the master of all things chicken, but apparently that's not the case.
But if you are still keen, just go to the nearest KFC outlet. It is available for a limited time only, though I don't know until when.
