There's no one who has ever discovered what he can do without first trying. A toddler who starts to walk has first taken a step before he is convinced of his ability to walk. This may not be the first time nor would be the last to hear of this, that; lies within everyone are potentials that need to be discovered, and these potentials require taking the first, second,..... infinity Steps until we have made mastery of our abilities. Life is a mystery and it requires a continuous digging to unveil the things hidden in the boxes of life's mystery and that's why experience remains the best teacher.
Taking the first step comes with a lot of discouragement from within, we ask ourselves countless questions like, "what if I fail, what if people ridicule me, what if I can't do it, what if I disgrace myself in the process, etc." You never know whether or not you can do it until you try and you only fail if you stop trying. There were several times I feared trying something new, but whenever I summoned the courage to do it, I realized it was easier than I had imagined before I took the step.
Ponder on what had hindered you from taking that step, be truthful to yourself. Is it the fear of failing?, the discomfort from being ridiculed?, The feeling of inferiority?, Or a belief that you can't do it?. Before you can conquer your inability to try new things, you first need to understand what your hindrances are, then work on them. The best way to conquer fear is to do that thing you dread frequently until you no longer find it fearful. It's ok to do it while being afraid for the first time, until you no longer find fear in it.
My grandma always tells me the only regret she has in life was allowing the ridicule of other people to stop her from learning English. She was afraid to be laughed at for speaking the wrong English until it became too late for her to learn. Her friends who didn't care if people laughed at them continued with the bad English and they can all speak English. People can only ridicule us for just a short time, they stop when they realize you're not giving attention to their laughter. Never allow ridicule stop you from taking the first step, else you would wish you had continued. Finally, believe everything is possible, if Mr. A can do it, you also can do it. What differentiates Mr. A who can do it, and Mr. B who can't do it is "Taking the step to try".
