Everyone has a past they wished they could change. Sometimes they hope they can learn from them and make their future much better with fewer regrets. Just like everyone, I have a past and a few things I wish I could have done better. My life started at age 12 after surviving an illness that almost claimed my life in my childhood, so unlike every child, I grew up differently with fewer choices of what I wanted. Choosing a career became so difficult for me, I was brilliant and good with arithmetic, everyone supposed I should be in science class. I felt if people said I needed to be in a science class ,then it was good for me, so I joined without having a passion for any sciences course. This confusion continued until eventually I ended in high school studying a course I don't like. Sometimes I wish I could have dug deep to know what I really wanted , because I'm a graduate with a first class in a course I don't like.

During my compulsory one year service, I tried to find answers to questions that have been troubling me. I was curious to know what I could do and find joy in it even if I wasn't being paid and a part of me yearned for computer literacy. I'm good with the basic knowledge of computers but I wanted to be a tech guy who can solve all digital problems and I felt learning programming would go a long way. I got a friend who was willing to teach me for as low as $7. I started but didn't end the training. Most times I wish I could have just stayed back, paid the cost and learned but I didn't.

After my service, I traveled back home hoping to start life from there. Now I wish I could have stayed back , maybe the discomfort of living alone would have pushed me to strive harder. The comfort at home suppresses my desire to want to succeed and breakforth and I wish I could have stayed, maybe it could have been my fuel to greatness.

I met with a friend from back then in school. One area we discussed was our wrong decision to remain single all through high school. We were hoping to make wealth before committing ourselves into a relationship. It's been 5 years now, none of us has made the money and still single because we haven't been able to see good ladies willing to start with us from scratch like back then.

There's a saying that goes "leaders are readers". I once had a chance in which I could have developed a reading habit but I didn't. I trusted in my ability to read fast and understand and felt that was all I needed. Now I wish to read and grow knowledge in other fields but can't, because I didn't develop the habit back then. I struggle to read now with zero passion for books. I wish I could have done better, who knows, I might have grown beyond my current status.
