Carmelo Anthony joins Stephen A. Smith for an exclusive interview on First Take to discuss his departure from the Houston Rockets. Carmelo details how he was caught by surprise when GM Daryl Morey told him he was "no longer needed" on the Rockets, which he says was "deeper than basketball." Melo adds that Chris Paul and James Harden did not know about his departure, and does not think Mike D'Antoni was involved.

It was one of the painful moments in Carmelo Anthony's career. It didn't end up well in Houston and he said that he was emotional at that moment. He started questioning himself on what did he do or didn't do for Daryl Morey to cut him. He was trying his best to work things out but he was likely fired at that moment. And now, he's trying to come back in the NBA where he deserves to play. It is unacceptable to say that he couldn't make a 15 man roster on 30 teams. He's absolutely better than a bunch of guys playing in the NBA.
Melo should be back. He deserves that. He still got it.
Let's hear it from him in this video.
