So I have been seeing some amazing night photography here on Steemit. I would have to say that not only am I mesmerized by this art but I am seriously jealous. So, tonight I busted out my Nikon D5300 and I set out to take my own shots. I live in the country and usually the stars are shining in an amazing fashion. Tonight I would say was a moderate night in terms of star brightness. Another problem I had was that my closest neighbor was clearing some land and had a large burn pile going. I took about 30 shots before my camera died, having been last charged in May before my sons birthday party...
I did some research and found opinions ranging all over the place on what the correct settings would be to take a proper night shot. Now, some of this made sense to me and some of it did not. Saying that I am an amateur photographer would be a stretch at best.
Here are my best three shots taken with various settings. I would appreciate, love and take with an open mind any and all advice given on how I can improve. I am not even kind of claiming that these are good shots but I wanted to show what I came up with. And here we go...
