When I was growing up, I used to have a lot of arguments with my brothers just because they thought I was a phone addict. It got to a point where I don't always feel comfortable when my brothers are around me, just because I won't be able to press my phone and they complain about how my phone is one of my biggest distractions. I can simply agree with them now because then, I wasn't doing something big on my phone, I was only chatting with my friends in school and just sniffing the Internet. Well, forward to now, that has been a different story entirely, because 80% of my life is on the Internet.
80% of my friends are not living around me; some are not even in Nigeria because, over the years, I have made so many friends online. So because of this, I don't go out often, and anytime I go out is either I go with my mom or my family. I don't normally go out to meet friends because my whole life revolves around my phone, but this was not the case before because those days, things were not like this, and nobody could see the power of technology a decade ago. it is obvious that the Internet has changed the world and the main question is, is a mobile phone still a distraction?
Depends on the hand that wild it
We are now in a world where it is almost impossible for a human being not to have a cell phone because not only does it make everything easier, but mobile phones Are one of those things now that is getting people out of depression, especially the older adults. Ever since I changed my mum's phone to an Android phone, she's been calling me on WhatsApp and thanking me daily. Any time she is less busy, she spends most of her time on Facebook because lives alone now. we all know how important the mobile phone is when it comes to communication, but we can still agree to some extent that, to some people, the mobile phone is a distraction.
At first glance, you may assume that I am addicted to my mobile phone, given the amount of time I spend using it. However, the truth is that I utilize my phone for trading, writing posts, and keeping in touch with most of my friends. Whenever I feel the need to communicate, I simply reach for my mobile phone. Even when it comes to making money, my phone is my go-to tool. Unfortunately, not everyone uses their phone as efficiently as I do. Some people waste time on social media, dreaming of success without taking any meaningful action. They fail to utilize the internet's vast potential and spend their days glued to their mobile devices.
The internet has the power to kill and the power to bring back to life
The internet has revolutionized the way we work, enabling people to earn a great salary from the comfort of their homes. In addition to this, it has opened up opportunities for individuals to work for themselves and has created numerous job opportunities. However, for some, the internet has become a major distraction, leading to a sedentary lifestyle and health issues like obesity and type 2 diabetes. Some people find it difficult to focus on their daily reading or make money online due to their steady need for distraction. It is crucial to understand that mobile phones are not naturally distracting; they can be useful tools to improve our lives if we use them judiciously. However, when we cannot stop using our phones and prioritize them over other aspects of our lives, they become a hindrance. The internet, when utilized appropriately, can be a valuable resource that offers numerous benefits and rewards.
