Recently I have had people call me from the USA and Alberta as well as questioning me on STEEM having to do with investing in cryptocurrencies etc. While I have been participating in the Bitcoin space since BTC was $100, and have made all the errors that possibly could be made (no I am not rich but I do have an expensive mattress), I think that I know more about the subject than many people but not as much as some people. For instance one person was interested in TRON and another was interested Ripple. Ripple I have marginally known about for a while but was uninterested in it because of its association with the banking industry and Tron I just recently heard about but am particularly uninterested in it as it may or may not have associations with the Chinese government and

Justin Sun, the founder of TRON, was formerly Chief Representative in Greater China of none other than Ripple.
Source. While I have no interest in dissuading people from speculating on these coins, I think STEEM is far more important to promote.

I watch a video this morning on the Dunning-Kruger Effect which I felt I should draw to your attention.

While I have a certain level of knowledge in certain subjects, I do not want to be considered an expert (I would rather tell a good joke). The problem is that many people are discussing issues and attempting to speak as an "expert" and they really don't know what they are talking about. There is that or perhaps my musings are demonstrating my ignorance.

My son was relating how he had gone in to a place where he is to talk to some people who consider themselves investment experts. One of their messages was how Bitcoin was a bubble and they started to talk about the Tulip Bulb Bubble. I have lived through a few bubbles and I think that while people are acting bubblicious

I actually think that the value of Bitcoin is being expressed despite peoples' investing behaviour. Much like the demand for cars increased its price when the automotive industry was in its infancy, cryptocurrencies have value in what they can do ...
STEEM is a good example of this as it is poised to disintermediate many social media sites (youtube, facebook, twitter, pinterest, instagram etc). As more people move their investment dollars away from the bond market (with zero rate of return), the stock and commodity markets (which has dubious valuations) the "average guy" will invest in Bitcoin via the CME.

This brings me back to the Dunning Kruger Effect. I might be an average to expert guy on the subject ... or I might be a complete idiot but with a lot of confidence.
