Hello friends!
It's already Christmas time! The whole year waiting, jajaja, and finally we can start with all the lovely decorations.
Well this week here is a bit different here in Spain as we have two holidays! Yesterday December 6th was the Constitution Day and tomorrow December 8th will be the Immaculate Conception Day (religious festivity, also in Italy and Portugal, maybe in some other country too...).
So usually these days with more free time people here decide to put all the Christmas things and decorations at home. I could not wait until tomorrow so I have started soon and at least the most important items are ready. Yeah!
¡Ya es época de Navidad! Todo el año esperando, jajaja, y por fin podemos empezar con todas las decoraciones preciosas.
Bueno, ¡esta semana es un poco diferente aquí en España ya que tenemos dos días festivos! Ayer 6 de diciembre fue el Día de la Constitución y mañana 8 de diciembre será el Día de la Inmaculada Concepción (fiesta religiosa, también en Italia y Portugal y quizás en algún país más...).
Por lo que normalmente estos días con más tiempo libre la gente aquí decide todas las cosas y decoraciones navideñas en casa. Yo no podía esperar hasta mañana, así que comencé pronto y por menos los elementos más importantes están listos. ¡Sí!
The best known, what cannot be missing in a house for it to be Christmas, right? Well I must say that it is not my favorite Christmas object, I like many others, but of course it has to be put. And this year we have opted for white and gold tones, in a more elegant style, but with some funny details that we have kept from many years, although we thought about adding something new. Because in addition to that Christmas nostalgia, we also have to always think about the new things that come to us...
Lo más conocido, lo que no puede faltar en una casa para que sea Navidad, ¿verdad? Bueno debo decir que no es mi objeto favorito de Navidad, me gustan muchos otros, pero por supuesto que hay que ponerlo. Y este año hemos optado por tonos blancos y dorados, en un estilo más elegante, pero con algunos detalles graciosos que conservamos de muchos años, aunque pensamos en añadir algo nuevo más. Porque además de esa nostalgia navideña también hay que pensar siempre en lo nuevo que nos viene...
And we get to what I like most, setting up the Nativity scene. Here it is just as typical as the tree, in fact, according to our culture and/or customs it is almost more typical, more from here. Although again also in other countries such as Italy, Austria, Portugal, etc... also in other Hispanic American countries or in Brazil I know that it is also an essential element in homes. In your country too or not?
I like to do it well, very big, and the problem is space, since a lot of surface is needed. There are those who only put the manger and the basic figures in a corner or at the entrance. Then there are those of us who like to add more and more figurines, trying to recreate more of that whole biblical scene of the birth of Jesus, and of all the town around. It's almost like a game, a moment where I focus on that, on placing everything in the available space as meaningfully as possible. Almost like those other monumental artistic nativity scenes that we see in public spaces or institutional buildings. Everyone does what they can and I hope you like mine.
Y llegamos a lo que más me gusta, montar el Belén. Aquí es igual de típico que el árbol, en realidad, según nuestra cultura y/o costumbres es casi más típico, más de aquí. Aunque de nuevo también en otros países como en Italia, Austria, Portugal, etc... también en otros hispanoamericanos o en Brasil sé que también es un elemento indispensable en las casas. ¿En tu país también o no?
A mí me gusta hacerlo bien, bien grande, y el problema es el espacio, ya que se necesita mucha superficie. Hay quienes sólo ponen el pesebre y las figuras básicas en un rincón o en la entrada. Después hay a quienes nos gusta añadir más y más figuritas, intentando recrear más toda esa escena bíblica del nacimiento de Jesús, y de todo el pueblo alrededor. Es casi como un juego, un momento en el que me concentro en eso, en colocar todo en el espacio disponible con el mayor sentido posible. Casi como esos otros belenes monumentales artísticos que vemos en espacios públicos o en edificios institucionales. Cada uno hace lo que puede y espero que os guste el mío.
As you can see, there is everything, or almost everything, besides the manger with the baby Jesus, the Virgin Mary and Saint Joseph, the angel, etc. Also on the right are the Three Wise Men who brought him offerings and then more scenery, a river, houses of people who worked in the fields, with animals, chopping wood, in the mill, drawing water, etc. A beautiful recreation of what our religious tradition is in the most endearing time of the year.
And if the lights go out, the lights of the Nativity scene itself give it a magical touch, as if night had arrived, and some stars gently illuminated it, and so we can get closer and continue observing and delighting in the details because there are many. So I could spend another whole day, like a happy little girl at Christmas😊
Como veis hay de todo, o casi de todo, además del pesebre con el niño Jesús, la Virgen María y San José, el ángel, etc. También están a la derecha los Reyes Magos que le llevaban ofrendas y luego más escenario, un río, casitas de gente que trabajaba en el campo, con animales, cortando leña, en el molino, sacando agua, etc. Una recreación bonita de lo que es nuestra tradición religiosa en la época más entrañable del año.
Y si se apagan las luces, las luces del propio Belén le dan un toque mágico, como si llegara la noche, y unas estrellas lo iluminaran dulcemente, y así podemos acercarnos y seguir observando y deleitándonos con los detalles porque hay muchos. Así podría pasar otro día entero, como una niña feliz en Navidad 😊
We ended up with back pain from bending over there putting things, but with a smile. And around the house there were some other small details missing to show you, in another post perhaps. There are many things, and we spent a pleasant and exciting Christmas afternoon, enjoying the moment, the decorations, the family and Christmas. That's what it's about.
Acabamos con dolor de espalda de estar ahí agachados poniendo cosas, pero con una sonrisa. Alrededor de la casa faltarían algunos otros pequeños detalles por mostraros, en otro post quizás. Son muchas cosas, y hemos pasado una tarde navideña agradable e ilusionante, disfrutando del momento, de las decoraciones, de la familia y de la Navidad. De eso se trata.
