This weekend, I had several plans, which consumed a lot of my time. For this reason, I haven't had time to think creatively about topics for new posts.
Until I saw the topic galenkp gave us:
What are you doing this weekend and why?
As a topic for a written composition at school, where I was and what I did for the summer vacation 🙂
A great topic for someone who hasn't had time to think about what to write about
In the past month, there have been several deaths in my area.
My colleague, only 4 years older than me, passed away, a waiter from a nearby cafe (a young man of 31 years old) passed away, and a family member passed away (at the age of 57) on the same day.
Every moment like that makes me think, as well as change my routine.
And a change of plans.
We have a cottage that I rarely go to. My mother spends a lot of time there during the year, and I go several times a year.
I go when she needs some help or when something needs to be done that she doesn't know or can't do.
So, I prepare the wood for the winter, before the winter I drain the water from the system in the house (I empty the boilers and pipes so that due to the low temperature there are no bursts), I make some repairs to the electricity, carpentry, blinds, sanitary facilities, I help her with the work in in the garden, I set up a protective net, spray tall fruit trees (apples, pears) vines, clean the attic of bugs (wasps and butterflies)...
And so every time.
But I surprised my mother this weekend.
I checked in one evening before my arrival.
I planned to spend the weekend with her.
"Why," she asked me.
"Why not," I answered her without saying what I was about to write here.
Because I want to spend some time with her, while we are still healthy and there is life in us. There was no need for me to tell her "Because I love you" because she knows that.
And she is very happy when I manage to set aside some time to spend with her.
That's why I decided to spend the weekend in the cottage.
And what was I doing there?
Nothing special.
Since I didn't announce myself earlier, my mother didn't have time to prepare an activity for me, so, in addition to keeping her company in the garden, I watered the plants a bit, picked fruits (which I will describe in more detail in one of the next posts from my garden), replaced the faucet and sink in the bathroom...
I petted a cat for half a day, which I wrote about yesterday, sorted out the pantry and threw out expired food.
When you don't stay at the cottage all the time, and you buy and stock up on food that you don't have time to use, at some point, you need to check the expiration dates and remove those stale foods from the pantry.
In our cottage, which is like a repository of our memories - we moved a large part of our things into it after moving from a large apartment to two smaller ones, there are a lot of little things, details that I have been collecting for years.
I photographed some of those old things/memories, which I found interesting for a future post.
When I finished all of the above and when my mother couldn't even find anything else to do, I short relaxed in the shade of a birch tree in an improvised lounger...
Towards the end of the day, I watched the basketball game played by the Serbian national team against the South Sudan national team at the Olympic Games. Somehow, Serbia defeated these really "dangerous" performers of the "threes."
A very interesting match that secured Serbia's continuation in the competition (@galenkp, it seems to me that the next match on Tuesday 6.08 will be yours against my national team. Good luck 🙂).
To relax my nerves a little, I had two beers, ending this interesting day of the weekend at the end of the game.
