The Whinchat is a small round migratory bird that visits the UK in summertime.
Often though to be from the Thrush family its now accepted that it's actually from the flycatcher family.
You will find these little birds on moorland, up at the tops of bushes or gorse on the thinnest of branches singing away.
Their main food are insects and seeds. They usually hunt there food on the ground and they can be seen running here and there along the ground chasing insects.
You can recognize these little birds with the bright white stripe over their eye, their yellowish underside and their brown backs
Also in this family is the closely related Stonechat. The Stonechat has darker markings with a black hood
