I mostly get pissed off at how absolutely terrible the news is for the most part. Almost nothing in the news, especially if it has anything to do with politics and especially if it has anything to do with Trump, can be trusted at all. It's not there to inform us, it is there to influence us, to attempt to change or direct public opinion with statistical manipulation, misquotes, or cherry-picking of images and video. In worse situations it's just outright lies to the point where everything has to be questioned and harshly scrutinized. Sometimes I think it would be better to just not pay any attention to anything even if that means that you will not have any idea what is going on in the world. I mean, how would that really change most of our lives?
I find myself tuning out more frequently and instead just reading books and honestly, I think that would be better.
Every now and then though, the news ends up accomplishing something pretty wonderful and makes me feel good about the world and the people in it.
A kitten with a spinal injury that was unable to use it's back legs arrived at an underfunded animal shelter in Cincinnati, Ohio and the workers there, who are not animal spinal experts, did the best that they could in devising some sort of wheelchair so that the poor little thing could move around a bit. With rulers, tape and Hot Wheels cars they made something that while it was silly looking, kind of did the job.
They made a video and it ended up going viral and also mass media got a hold of it and the story ended up going far and wide.
The online world took notice, gave kudos and respect to the people at the shelter, and someone with both money and expertise reached out and got the kitten, whose name is Gelato - which is a wonderfully adorable name - a professional set of wheels.

Gelato's caretakers and their non-profit animal-rescue center in Cincinnati has become a bit famous because of this, and the word is that they have seen a massive uptick in the amount of donations that the centre has been receiving. It's nice to see people donating a bunch of money to something that actually matters instead of doing some sort of stupid GoFundMe that was motivated by politics or lawfare.
Think about all the good that we all collectively could have done for young animals or hell, even young humans if we would but out and just stop with the senseless and constant fighting.
I remember there was a story called "Don't mess with the cats" where online groups all came together to fight against animal cruelty. Maybe the cats are what we need to get people to stop being such political drones and come together on some sort of issue.
It was nice to see a news story go far and wide and for something good to come out of all of it. Now lets see if we can do more of this.
