Welcome back Splinterlands battlemages to another edition of "For Guild & Glory," my brawl report series covering all the action from my three accounts: @ducecrypto in Tier 4 with
@shield-of-glory from the Kingdom of Glory [KoG] alliance,
@treycrypto in Tier 3 with the
@yggspl-official alliance YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) and
@shaelien in Tier 3 with the always lively
@the420syndicate. You can see my last report for Brawl #144 here.
For the second straight week, we failed to take home first place. In fact, we slipped down to third in this brawl, 23 wins behind Samurai Soul LLAC and just two wins behind Peakmonsters Pirates. Again, we had one of our brawlers no-show and flee all their frays. This is really unfortunate in a team competition like brawls and is quite uncharacteristic for Kingdom of Glory guilds, but it is what it is and the offender will have to serve their time on the bench. Sometimes life just gets in the way and as a group, we have to move on. Nevertheless, the 3rd place finish provided us with 135 crowns, 7714 merits, and 145 SPS.
On the bright side, @nizzyz continued their string of strong performances with a guild-best 8-1 record, while OG Gold Foil brawlers
@azircon and
@vugtis also turned in one-loss performances. My record defending Fray 18 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League was even more disappointing than the third place finish, as I bungled my way to 4-5 mark, losing more battles than I won for the first time in what seems like forever.
First, I want to highlight this Brighton Bloom mirror match in an earthquake ruleset against @koperini of the victorious Samurai Soul guild. Their decision to choose earth for rust from Sporcerer turned out to be much stronger than my choice of water for the power of gladiator Isgald Vorst.
Next, I want to share this Mylor Crowling mirror match in a 99 mana, all-melee, melee mayhem battle against @splintercogg. We both used five similar monsters and the sixth was only a slight variation between my Elven Defender and their Chain Golem. However, their placement must have been superior because I lost a very close battle in the end, so this is one of those teachable moments where I need to understand how to make better placement decisions. Lots to do to improve this performance for next brawl!
As I explained in my last article, I was a bit too tardy in signing up for my preferred fray with YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir), so I was able to swap into another guild in the YGG Brawler alliance - Tier 2 guild YGG Brawlers (Álfheim). Doing so allowed me to play my customary Fray 16 - Modern Gold Foil Silver League and continue to support my YGG Brawler guildmates instead of sitting out on the bench, which is a win-win situation in my book and a good demonstration of the utility of being part of a larger guild alliance.
Unfortunately, I was not able to get us over the hump and we finished in second place, nine wins behind Immortal Gods 2 in first. However, 2nd place still earned us 54 crowns, 2363 merits, and nearly 18 SPS. From what I can see, we had at least two clean sweeps, one by @thewascalwabbits and the other by our guild leader
@stophersdinnerz. I only mustered a 2-2 finish which is below my high expectations. However, I was able to take down
@monsterfit from the 1st place guild in an interesting equalizer battle where my Exploding Rats tank got just enough misses from their two melee attackers to outlast the other four magic attackers. All in all, it was a nice experience being able to brawl with YGG Brawlers (Álfheim) while sitting out of my main guild, but I should be back with YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) for the next cycle.
YIKES! I forgot to save the images from Brawl #145 with The 420 Syndicate, so it'll be a bit of an abridged summary. Maybe it was for the best though, since we finished dead last out of nine guilds this brawl. Even so, we gained 35 crowns, 1556 merits, and 25 SPS.
My Shaelien account went 2-6 defending Fray 13 - Modern Diamond League with its gold league cards, so let's take a look at the pair of upsets I pulled off. The first win came against @incze from the Hungarian Splinterlands guild and my magic-focused death team prevailed over their range-heavy team. The second win came against
@oberhessen of Goat Monsters, but this wasn't really an upset since they only played a Silver League soulbound fire summoner with some low-level monsters. Truth be told, my lineup was far less than ideal based on my placement so I was lucky to escape with a win in this one.
If you thought my performances were bad for Brawl #145, well you're right, it was bad, but not nearly as bad as my Gladius Case openings. Duce got to open 4 cases, so I knew it was a pretty bad sign I only had 10 cards to reveal. No Gold Foil, no epics, no legends and just the minimum amount of rares - what a waste of 20 stones!
Things weren't much better for Trey or Shaelien, as they also opened the minimum rares with no gold, no epics, and no legends. The pack randomizer must have known I played like crap and rewarded me with equally crappy monsters. Maybe with a better performance next week I will also have better pack openings. Keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

Brawl #146 sees an immensely challenging group of 10 for Shield of Glory in Tier 4. Not only will we be facing off against alliance members Guardians of Glory and No Guts No Glory, but we also have to contend with Team Possible, Legendary Dragons, Peakmonsters Pirates (who just beat us), and Roaring Twenties.
Back in Tier 3, YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir) was able to extend its Tier 3 winning streak to seven brawls this past cycle, so with my return I am hoping to push it to eight in a row! And wouldn't you know it, The 420 Syndicate was once again drawn in the same group as YGG Brawlers (Niðavellir). However, Niðavellir is the top-ranked guild in the group, while 420 is right around the middle of the pack. I'm hoping both guilds will be able to maintain those places after the dust settles on Brawl #146.
Thanks as always for hanging with me to read through my brawl report! Please let me know what you think with a quick comment if you're so inclined, and check out these new images in my signature advertising my guilds.
