Pull up to the club and on the way home be sure to stop by Green Valley Market for some free strawberries! Truth is I never made it back to Elsewhere on Saturday. In fact, I dis most of my walking early on when I went to the farmer's market before noon. For $30 I brought home a bounty on 3 fresh tamales (1 chicken+jalapeño, 2 black bean), 2.5 lbs of purple potatoes, 2 lbs of sweet potato, and ingredients for a bean soup with carrot, grey squash, sweet onion, shallots, garlic, and serrano peppers for some kick. I also scooped a bunch of seeded grapes and hearty green kale to throw in the finished soup.

After I stashed the farmer's haul, I whipped up my mom's French toast recipe with the Trader Joe's pumpkin spice brioche bread. I even let the bread get stale for a few days so it would absorb the egg batter better before getting fried off in the pan. It was another successful serving of my fall special pumpkin spice French toast, which has become a seasonal tradition when TJ's has this particular bread in stock. It is the perfect vehicle for a fluffy French toast!

Later that afternoon we enjoyed the crispy fall weather while it was still sunny and above 70F. We strolled over to my partner's favorite coffee spot, Nook, and my favorite baked treat purveyor, my familiar Japanese destination, Takahashi. We got back home for a quick climb up to our 5th floor roof for 15 minutes, but by 6pm the sun was nearly gone and a cool breeze chilled my girl to the bone.

We went back downstairs for dinner & a movie. We watched Doctor Sleep, Stephen King's sequel to The Shining. I couldn't stay interested (or awake). I guess Doctor Sleep worked on me!
