These dudes, Hooks and DC, go so fckn hard and have been at it for over 20 years. This is their final tour before they go on a well-earned hiatus from the club/festival scene. Zeds Dead, baby, Zeds Dead. The Journey of a Lifetime.
The show was incredible. They played for 2 hours on a tour that highlighted only outdoor venues across North America's biggest cities. And in true NY fashion, our original Saturday night date got rained out, so they came back two weeks later on a Friday to play the show.
My crew was cooked having to work Friday, when doors were at 5pm. We barely made it in time for the direct support, ALLEYCVT, who played a somewhat tired set from 6.50 to 7.50. But the headliners stole the show. They made the magic happen!
Zeds Dead have been staples of the US dubstep scene for over 15 years, but after this fall, they are taking a hiatus from public shows to take some time for themselves. This made NYC's Friday performance that much more special. They played 2 hours full of old classics, new edits, and over a dozen remixes of NYC rap legends like Biggie, Jay Z, KRS-One, Capone & Noriega, and more.
After the show, we went back to our friend's place for a going-away party before she heads off to SoCal for 6 months. It was a great way to end an epic show. A couple of friends pulled up to take over the decks at the after-party. We raged until the wee hours of the morning. Classic NY nights!
