UPDATE: It's 8:47pm on Wednesday night here in Brisbane. And where am I? Brisbane Childrens' Hospital, because my daughter had an accident and tripped over a friend before her dance class today.
The waiting room is full: we have all gone through the triage process. Now it's just a matter of waiting.
But you know what?
I am just so grateful Australia has universal healthcare. I don't know if Ms 9 has broken her arm or wrist, but I will before the end of the night (and judging by the amount of people in the waiting room, that may take some time).
But I am happy.
The taxes I pay help support the health and safety of all these kids - and that's cool.
Everyone deserves this. All the kids, everywhere, deserve this.
Universal healthcare rocks.
