Outside, raindrops trickle
down the windows of the cars
on the street.

Sad and lonely they meet and run,
absorbing others stunned by their journey
down from clouds on high
Then gathered together they stream
to the ground, and into the gutter.

A torrent runs towards the drain
cleaning the street of leaves and dirt and the remains of food
and the tar-filled butts of cigarettes.

While inside...
the aroma of coffee promises a better afternoon. And delivers.

Almost.

The author is ready to return to the day and set aside sweet memories
and the dreams of childhood.

Almost.

For this rain, this rain, these endless droplets pouring from the sky
hypnotising the senses,
leaving them parched and dry
and needing

Rain.

May all beings be happy.
