This scene was an exciting and easy one to write for me because there were so many converging problems coming for Rosie. As a writer, when you can, force your characters to react. Up the stakes, and then ask yourself, "what options does my character have?" and "What actions are they likely to take?"
The writing gets harder when things get slower, more contemplative than reactive.
