This was a page/panel that I have been waiting to see, even before I wrote the script for this issue. I just knew deep in my heart, that there would be an amazing page where Mookie makes some kind of snide remark about Hazel and Margaret, and then Ruth would go, "I wonder what they're up to."

Cut to them knee deep in bodies, screaming. It was a moment that made me laugh when I thought about it, and continues to make me smile as I now start to see it coming together. At the risk of being redundant something similar happens in Issue 3, but the other way around. I guess I just can't help myself, I'm a fan of dramatic irony.

I suppose the tone here makes my story a little harder to pin down. I've talked about this before in previous posts, but I do like a little bit of comedy in my horror.

The thing I have to be careful with, is not making this so light hearted that the reader doesn't care when the stakes get raised.

I'll have to trust Stephen King's advice when it comes to generating horror. He says he always tries to create fundamentally good and likeable characters, so that you're terrified when they're put in danger.

There's goofiness and spookiness in equal measure in the first 2 issues, so I suppose the real test for this series success will be how much you all come to love the characters. I gotta make sure you love them...before I start to kill em...
