It's hard to sum up the problem with some of these people, but you did a good job of it. I've run across so many. They existed to some degree before Covid, but nowadays it's a lot worse, and there are a lot more of them. It's like they're shellshocked and/or brainwashed and/or normalcy bias and/or Stockholm syndrome.
