The only reason I need to stop unnecessarily harming sentient animals (ie "be vegan") is I know it's wrong. The environment, health, and other great reasons come far below that one for me.
It's cool you know the difference between vegetarian (a diet that avoids flesh) and veganism (a lifestyle that avoids harming sentient beings). Most people who aren't one or the other don't even realize they aren't the same. Myself, I went through vegetarianism on my way to veganism (which is fairly common), and I saw it as a stepping stone or light version of veganism. Now I realize that's a very simplistic and not very correct way to see it. Veganism stands on its own. Vegetarianism is little more than a diet, and it doesn't seek to avoid harm, it merely seeks to avoid eating flesh. That said, I'm happy for anyone who takes an interest, either intellectually or putting it into effect in their life. Thanks for being part of the conversation!
