I never play lotto, knowing how it works, but was gifted 5 scratches today. First 4 were losers. As I picked up the last, I noticed:
Only obvious if you're paying attention, those little scratches happen to be directly over the unique pattern used by an official scanner to determine if the card is a winner or not.
In other words, this ticket has already been scanned by a store employee (and probably only sold because it isn't a winner)!
Because I already fully scratched the other 4, I can't be certain they had ALL been predestined to lose. The tickets cost $5, and likely had a 0% chance of winning. The person who gave them to me, not realizing they had been scammed by the store, was unknowingly just wasting my time (and theirs) with the gift.
Well, should I scratch it? I don't even know where it was purchased, to make a complaint.
