I know this doesn’t look too appetizing but my midwife suggested I eat 6 dates a day to help with cervical ripening or softening. So the hubby got a big bag of medjool dates and pitted them all for me 😊 (such a sweetie ❤️). When I looked this up, apparently it was an evidence based recommendation! There are various studies that support intake of dates in the last few weeks of pregnancy! 🤰”According to a study, women who ate 6 dates a day for the four weeks leading up to their due date were significantly more dilated and more likely to:

  • Have intact membranes upon admission to the hospital
  • Go into labor spontaneously
  • Avoid pitocin
  • And have a shorter first phase of labor.” This is easy to incorporate into one’s daily routine for cervical ripening prior to labour.
