My nerves rattle as I just awake from the same nightmare once again, skin tingling as the horror slowly sweeps away from my body. The dream felt so real, almost like a memory from the past that refused to leave my mind. Maybe it was a memory, a memory I have wanted to forget for so long now. Even the sunlight coming from my window can't take away my fears. No matter how hard I pretend, I can't get over it, can't trick my mind into thinking that everything is alright. That it was just a dream. Even if I have seen it over a hundred times now.
It's the man I see in these nightmares that haunts me the most. He is nothing like those filthy horrible creatures you see in horror films. With skin like porcelain and eyes so vivid blue, he could be easily mistaken for an angel. The way his hand skims through my hair should make me feel at ease, should make me feel calm under his scrutinised gaze, but it never does. Not when there is a cage surrounding us. He is so beautiful, yet his smile feels so vile; his soft hand on my face feels like the claws of a tiger piercing through my skin. No matter how hard I try to get away, my body won't move, and I stay hunched on the ground as he toys with me.
It's his honey-glazed voice that rings inside my head when I wake up screaming.
"It won't be long now, my pet. Just a few more days. Then you will be mine, and I will show you how to die."
