The past week for me has been a whirlwind which has ended with me being seated in a hospital bed.
No, I'm not sick. It's actually my mother. And like the nice little daughter that I am, I am here to take care of her and watch if she needs anything.
From going to a wedding ceremony to being wound up in this bleach-smelling room in the span of seven days was quite an adventure, if I'd say. But let it be known that it was not a good adventure.
As I write this down, I can feel the coming of a virus fever my way — a feat of getting drenched in the rain a couple of times last week while I was running everywhere —and isn't that just the cherry on top? Did I mention that I hate cherries? No. No, I didn't...
This is definitely not the ideal time to get sick. I have a hundred things on my plate that I need to do. I even have my finals starting in six days — which, I am not, at all prepared for — and I do not know just how I am to manage all this shit together.
There is a saying that goes; "When it rains, it pours." And it's definitely pouring right now.
I just might get flooded if this keeps up.
Still, in between the hectic days, I try to find some solace in rare resting moments. Moments which I then proceed to waste by glueing my eyes to youtube...Those "shorts" things are an abomination to human society, I swear. Yet I spend hours on them. Am I proud of it? No. Do I still keep on doing it? Definitely.
With all the tension and events surrounding me, last month's trip almost seemed like a dream. The roaring ocean, saltwater breeze and beaches miles long now feel like galaxies away from me, and I yearn for the escape it had given me in those moments when I was there, walking along the shoreline without a care in the world.
Who knows when life will hit the paddle and grant me a solid break like that again. For now, it seems like something that lies in the far future. Exams are not going to get done by themselves, and, as it turns out, I do have a life, even if it's very dull.
So until I get the chance to get lost again, I'll just....go watch some more videos, and try to forget that I'm stuck here, in a hospital room filled with the stench of the death.
