Where is Formentor?
The peninsula, about 14 kilometers long, forms the north-eastern tip of Majorca. Its end, where the lighthouse stands, is the northernmost point of the whole island.
The peninsula can be reached from Port d'Alc煤dia. You will go through another resort of Port de Pollenca, behind which the road rises immediately and continues to the lighthouse in sharp serpentines.
What to watch !!!
The road is very narrow and winding. Take care! Pay attention to the unpaved sidewalks, the anti-aircraft cars and, unfortunately, occasional buses.
Cap de Formentor is very popular, there are lots of cars in the season and there is a small car park near the sightseeing and the lighthouse. It's much better to get back to the beacon either early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
There are lots of sightseeing on the way, if you go in the morning, it is better to go first and finally to the Cape, and on the way back to stand on the prospect. This is the opposite in the afternoon. First views and beaches, then beacon.
