Interesting thoughts.

I tend to disagree.

Singularity is already happening, in some areas.

You know that meme: "When you're dead, you don't know that you're dead. It's hard only for the ones around you. Same when you're stupid"?

My point is that we can't know if somebody or someone is outsmarting us in the present moment. We can only know it in hindsight. The assumption that it's only us who are capable of cognition, of awareness, of consciousness, is just as wrong that nothing is capable of all those things. We invented these concepts of awareness and cognition, that doesn't mean they are intrinsically true.

I believe there are areas in which the singularity already happened, in which AI knows you better than you know yourself. Look at Brexit, Trump election in US, then Covid-19. All these events had in common a certain level of mistrust, of "we know this won't happen". Yet, it did happen. Something outsmarted us.

There are certain areas of our life, especially those related to social interaction, content production and entertainment, where the singularity is already manifesting. You're dominated by a certain "something" that we can't define, yet it works. It's not owned by a single entity, it's an attention harvesting model which seems to work better and better. Just because it doesn't take the shape we're expecting from an entity to take, it doesn't mean it's not real. It's producing effects as we speak.
