Religion is always a hard topic to discuss because people become quickly offended when people try to pick apart at their beliefs and the topic as a whole is widely taken too seriously in my opinion. Although I am not religious I try to take some teachings from many religions because there is a lot of knowledge and history in religious text.

The idea of religion is a noble one, praising a god and helping to protect the home it gave you, however in practice the core principals of religion are often twisted.

Religious texts are often refereed to as the word of said religions god, written by humans, which is immediately cause for concern because you can now not tell what is 'gods' word and what is a persons. Then you have to take into account these texts being edited by people of power to push their ideas throughout history, then what is lost in translation and the change in language over time.

How to intemperate it all

With all of these factors involved, even assuming that said god is real, what we read today is likely miles away from what god or gods originally intended, so there is know way of knowing what you should and shouldn't follow. Because of all this change over time religious texts often have a lot of contradictions and strange views on the severity of different acts.

For example one of the many commandments in Judaism is 'Not to destroy objects associated with God's name' now from this commandment alone you can intemperate it in many ways. The words Destroy to defeat, ruin or end the existence of. Object, something that can be seen or touched or a person or thing with an action or feeling directed. Associated, something connected with something else.

How can you live by this, everything in existence is associated with god, you can see, touch and direct feelings or actions to literally anything and you can defeat or ruin most things or end their existence. To live by this one commandment in one religion, to follow it to the definition would mean you would not be able to do anything at all. But by doing nothing you ruin your own existence and you are associated with god. The only way to follow this commandment is for nothing to exist, it can not be done.

This is why religion is such a burden because it is fundamental impossible to follow many of any religions commandments, so if you want to be religious you have to pick an choose what rules you follow and what rules you don't or how you intemperate the rules.

This essentially leaves you with following whatever rules you want to and interpenetrating them how you see fit. Which just means people can twist things and say they are doing something in the name of their religion. As a representative of a religion they are representing it how they see fit, which could be anything.

What we are left with

This sadly leaves us with religion being a burden because people can twist things in any way they want, which can be good but it can be bad. If we look at many of the great humanitarians throughout humanity many of them are religious and interpenetrated their religion in a way where they thought they should help people. However on the other side we have some of the worst people and wars in human history fueled by an interpretation of a religion.

Religion is a burden we should all share and educate people on, to try and avoid negative interpretations of it because religion is never going away and rightly so. What is you stand point on religion? Comment your thoughts, Upvote if you enjoyed and follow for more.
