I'm struck by how little philosophical thinking is being done about technology from the perspective of our human experience - that is, a phenomenological approach to philosophy of technology. That is not to say that there aren't increasingly more and more articles about the impact (or potential impact) of technology on us, but that it is not often framed phenomenologically.

Initially, I want to do what is called a "literature review" - a survey of what is out there on a subject, and like to see what I might contribute to the arena. I don't yet know what I want to write about, or what my ideas or perspectives will be, but will find this out as I survey the literature and articles that are out there.

I thought this might also serve as a model for others of how to go about doing a written philosophy project. I'll be using the methods I speak about in the podcast episodes I posted in the last week about establishing a philosophy reading practice and keeping a philosophy journal or log, and might even run a philosophy salon on the subject if there turns out to be interest out there.

Also note: I'm going to be running this project exclusively on the SteemIt blockchain!

The Plan

A. Literature Review

Starting today, I am committing to writing one blog post every-other day about an essay or article in the field. What I will be writing might be a resume of the piece or some aspect of the piece (synthesis), or the "explosion" of some idea in a piece (analysis), where you take a sentence or a few sentences and examine its meaning closely.

I'm going to start with whatever looks interesting on a given day - no set trajectory - and see what I encounter along the way. For example, today this piece caught my eye, so I'll be posting on this next: Virtual Reality Asserts Itself as an Art Form in Its Own Right. You are invited to take a look at it and to follow me in this adventure! See something you think is good for review and potentially for discussion? Link it in the comments 馃憞馃徏 and I'll take a look.

B. Thesis Development and beyond....

Once I've gone through some number of articles, some thinking patterns will begin to develop, and I'll be able to formulate some thesis about what I would like to say. Then I will do a little research to help fine tune the topic and my reading will become more focused. Eventually, I should end up with a lot of words and possibly a well researched and thought-out philosophical piece to disseminate widely.
