I'd meant to get photos from my walk yesterday for today's #wednesdaywalk , but in typical New England style, tho it was 50F the day before, yesterday is was Chilly and snow mixed with Heavy rain, so today's #Wednesdaywalk and #Makemesmile challenge is fond memories of one of many walks last Summer.

If you'd like to join in wednesdaywalk go to today's post by @tattoodjay to learn how to join in the fun!

The neigbors little power boat moored for the season in front of their dock

This lovely navy blue little speed boat always hearlds the start of Summer for me, for when the family who Summer there come down and get their boathouse open and put out this boat, I know the season is well and truly open.

View from my typical morning walk down our shore to the neighbors docks, you can see the shell fisherman at their daily work.

Another sign of Summer's beginning is seen here. Tho the Shell fishermen (who have grants in the harbors round our place) work Most of the year, it's not until Warm Summer days that they have their little float out with the working benches on, in their shirtsleeves, processing all the delicious oysters. I can smell the scents of the evergreens and seagrass (now shorn and brown) and the insects in the high grass.

The boardwalk through the marsh and wetlands round here.

This path here is just about done at this time of the year, as the Summer rolls in, so to will the inscets. These boardwalks, in the conservation land around our house, are wonderful in Late Autumn and Winter and Spring, but you can see here, how the phragmites and the sumac are in full bloom and if you could hear, the bugs would be a cacophony of noise mingled with the distant shore and gulls.

The frogs in my little pond

Once back home, on a summer's monring walk, a stop at my little pond to check on the life there in. Right now, you'd not know the amount of frogs that dwell there, for this time of the year they are buried, sleeping, in the muck at the bottom.

A pair of bullfrogs in a Summer's Love embrace.

And another sign of an early Summer's walk is the lovemaking of said frogs. They keep the population of insects down and I still love to collect up their young, in the form of little inky black tadpoles, in metal pails. Not much has changed in that since I was a child. The old pail and the ratty old net waits now, in the boathouse , for summer scooping of tadpoles and ocean minnows.

New pumpkins climbing the fruit cage.

Another sign of early Summer walks are my pumpkins. I love to start them early (they are going in my little heated seed frame this week) and grow them on a bit inside, so that I can dot them around the place in Summer.

Tho the deer and rabbit devour our veg , most of the fruit and veg have to be grown in fenced gardens or in the fruitcage (which this is growing on the outside) but for whatever reason, the deer and rabbit will leave the pumpkins along. They are so beautiful with their giant leaves (and you can eat their blossoms as well stuffed with cream cheese and lightly fried) so this one, last year, made a great show climbing up my fruit cage.

This #wednesdaywalk is surely making me long for Summer days, tho I'd not want to hurry there, for Spring is truly my favorite season.

I hope you enjoyed my Wednesdaywalk and #makemesmile post and why not join in next week?

I hope you find a moment in your day to indulge in your passions and a moment to step outside and take a small walk.
