This is a post that a friend of mine sent me yesterday as she travels on her spiritual journey around the world and has allowed me to share this post. This is in Equador previously she was in Peru teaching the children English she bonded totally heart and spirit with these kids. She has long blond dreads down to her waist and is tattooed to head to toes so can be a little intimidating but is the most gentle spirit I know and that gentleness and love that she projects is all the children could see.
I never heard of Limpia before I arrived in Quito. It is a cleansing procedure typical if Andean medicine that uses natural herbs, flowers, oils and rubs to cure ailments, reduce symptoms and/or ward of negativity. So I thought why not give it a try 😳. On my first visit to the shop I wasn't prepared as you need to go into a back room and drop your laundry. Back to the hotel I go to suit up. 😁 I return ready or not. As the lady only speaks Spanish I wasn't really sure what was happening??? I was ushered into a small stall in the back of the shop and asked to disrobe. She starts by smacking my body with a herbal plant of some sort. I instantly feel like I am being stung all over. I start to wonder what I have signed up for. This is the 1st step as it helps you get control of your feelings. It is supposed to heighten your senses and increase your awareness. Believe me I was well aware my skin was stinging! Next I am rubbed from head to foot in rose petals that have been dipped in some type of oil it's actually quite soothing. Its like valentines day festivities 😘. Next another batch of green leafy herbs that look like salad is massaged into EVERY inch of my body. The entire process takes about 15 minutes. My lady leaves me looking like the swamp monster to um clean up and get dressed. I am now sent back to hotel with a bag of herbs, flowers and oils and salad in my pants 😳. I am instructed to rub this mixture all over my body while I shower for 15 minutes. Limpia is an act of bodily and spiritual cleansing. I am not really sure what just happened, but I sure do feel GREAT!
