MY FIRST PATIENT IN COLOMBIA

Hello friends of Steemit, when I arrived in Bogotá I was very lucky but I did not have a place to stay, I did not have any work, I had already contacted a home nursing company to get my job done.

In the street without further search we saw a department that said in its window that it was leased and with a phone number, we called and we contacted, the owner of the department was asking me for a letter of work and references that of course I did not have, but in At that moment, a call from my cell phone came from the health care company to ask me if I had arrived in Colombia because they needed a nurse for a 68-year-old patient, bedridden and obese, who needed a strong caregiver, of course I said yes and then. They said that the next day would be my first day of work, so the owner of the apartment heard the conversation and decided to rent the apartment, ignoring the requirements he was asking us, God took me by the hand!

We talked about Doña Gloria who is in the company of her daughter walking in a park and suffered a fall from her own height was taken to the nearest clinic where she was diagnosed with a fracture of the left hip and right ankle and was operated surgically by placing a prosthesis hip.

Initially, my attention was directed to the immediate postoperative period with emphasis on the surgical wound and to perform cures to prevent infection, administer the prescribed medical treatment, take care of the skin to avoid pressure ulcer due to long duration in bed, assistance in the personal hygiene, among other cares, Ms. Gloria was in a very dependent situation, but all the mentioned aspects were well covered because I am familiar with that kind of care
Then, Doña Gloria's needs were changing, now the priority was rehabilitation, with which she was not familiar and I had to start studying physiotherapy and nutrition, nutrition was very important because due to obesity I could lose the prosthesis or delay her recovery, but also the eating habits were not the best, which we arranged.

As we progressed with the exercises we set ourselves a goal, Mrs. Gloria wanted to visit her daughter, as was her daily routine in a third floor, we had several things against, the first one that only had a month and a half of "post operated", the weight , in lower right limb immobilized

and according to statistics, this type of patients recover in periods ranging from six months to a year, but we had something in favor ... the love of my patient for his family and his perseverance in the exercises and the developed therapy.

She achieved his goal of embracing his daughter and grandchildren on the third floor of that building where we arrived by surprise.

My reward was those tears of joy from that family and a typical Ajiaco soup from Bogotá that dona Gloria helped prepare and offered me in gratitude
