The Taking Down Of Aeron Payne

Towards the end of The Rag's run, there was a professional wrestling column being written by Aeron Payne. For those that remember The Rag, thank you for your support. For those that don't, The Rag was a monthly entertainment paper that I published and was distributed in various places from Keansburg through Toms River. I did most of my writing as Donnie G. and had an assortment of wonderful contributors also. I have to mention that there probably would have been no Rag if not for the graphic skills, editorial skills and support of Paul "Bear" Bagdanov.

Anyway, I digress. I started including a professional wrestling article as Donnie G. I had written about local wrestling shows in previous publications that I worked for, also. Then, one day I decided that I wanted to create a separate persona for the person that I wanted to present this wrestling column. Thus, Aeron Payne was born! I took Aeron as the first name after finding out that the name had roots in Hebrew, with the name meaning "mountain of strength." The last name of Payne was a no-brainer with a play on what was needed to be inflicted.

I tried working on a style that didn't sound like me. I even portrayed him as having conversations with me. When I finally shut down The Rag, I decided to keep Aeron Payne's facebook page alive with a wrestling theme. I believe that there is an older version of the page still floating around because I don't remember the email and password I used to initially set that one up. I guess I was hoping to start another project at some point where Aeron Payne could come alive again. Even though Aeron Payne lived well past the shutting down of The Rag, I decided it was time to close the book on him for now.

I am heavily concentrating on bringing my writing career back to life. Besides my ramblings on Steemit, I also contribute to the Lacey Patch, which is an online local news source that is owned by Aol. In addition, I publish a church newsletter for the Lacey United Methodist Church. I am also reviving some book ideas. For those of you who took the time to read this, I am sure this gives you a better idea of who I am. At least, thank you for letting me vent about my past and possible future. Aeron Payne, you may be gone for now, but definitely not forgotten.
